The stock lending process starts with an agreement between the lender and borrower, facilitated by a securities lending agent. The borrower provides collateral to the lender, and the lender transfers the stock to the borrower. During the lending period, the borrower pays a fee to the lender. At the end of the stock lending  period, the borrower returns the stock to the lender, and the collateral is returned. The entire process is overseen by the securities lending agent to ensure smooth initiation and settlement of the transaction.
